Would you like to visit Jerusalem in the Spring? The Friends of JBG organise a unique working holiday to the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, bringing together professional and amateur gardeners from all over the world for a volunteering trip to Israel (length of trips vary).
Volunteers must be fit enough to do gardening work for up to 9 days. Our youngest volunteer aged 13 came as part of a family group and our oldest celebrated their 79th birthday on the working holiday! It isn’t all work - there's free time and organised tours visiting places like the Bahai Gardens in Haifa, Masada, the Dead Sea and the Ein Gedi kibbutz garden and nature reserve (this varies from year to year).
The Working Holiday attracts all sorts
of people who enjoy gardening, from professionals taking a ‘busman’s holiday’ to Sunday afternoon home gardeners. It’s suitable for couples, singles and groups of friends – we always have fun and some people have such a good time, they return time and time again.
The Working Holiday usually takes place in March each year. We book flights from the UK and accommodation on a shared room b&b basis. You should be aware the single supplement will push up the cost significantly. We endeavour to ensure that no-one is excluded on the basis of cost - travel bursaries may be available and you should contact the Office in confidence for more information.
